Resident Evil Requiem: Two Older Characters Left Out of the Story?

Although Capcom has confirmed that Leon S. Kennedy will be in the new game, we shouldn’t expect anything else.

As players count down the days to Resident Evil Requiem, one of the community’s best-known leakers has weighed in on talk that fan favorites Ada Wong and Chris Redfield could return. The catch is that the supposed “confirmation” making the rounds is bogus. Even with years of speculation around Ada and Leon and Chris’s undeniable importance to the franchise, fans shouldn’t anticipate either of them showing up in Requiem.

Resident Evil leaker Dusk Golem, who was incorrectly cited as the source, pushed back on the claim that Ada and Chris appear in Resident Evil Requiem. He stated plainly that, based on what he’s heard, he doesn’t believe Chris or Ada are in the game in any meaningful capacity. Responding to follow-up questions, he also pointed out that the game’s director has already said Chris won’t be part of Requiem, though Dusk Golem allowed that Chris or Ada could still get a minor nod in a file, a side reference, or an Easter egg. While he mentioned that an older Resident Evil character could potentially surface in a Requiem DLC, he continues to insist that Ada and Chris won’t appear in the main story.

It’s worth keeping in mind that any game detail – even information from leakers with a strong track record – remains rumor and speculation until the developer makes an official announcement. Either way, the Umbrella Corporation is expected to feature in Resident Evil 9, so Requiem will once again point back toward the series’ origins.

Resident Evil Requiem (which is Resident Evil 9 in all but name) launches on February 27 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
