Kromlech Finally Has a Date – Perun Creative’s Celtic RPG Bets on Choices and Brutal Combat

They haven’t put out a real dud so far, and now they’re gearing up for a Celtic fantasy RPG where both choices and combat demand actual brainpower. Czech studio Perun Creative has confirmed that Kromlech will finally launch in early access next March.

While Poland is widely seen as one of Europe’s key game-development hubs, studios across the continent are still fighting to be noticed, and one of the more interesting contenders comes from the Czech Republic. Perun Creative, the team behind Hobo: Tough Life and Kvark – both strongly rated on Steam – is now building a dark fantasy action RPG inspired by Celtic mythology. After a year of near-total silence, Kromlech has finally resurfaced to confirm its early access release.

If the project is new to you, Kromlech casts you as Cronach, a “lone wolf” pushing through the final days of a world on the verge of collapse. Instead of a straight, linear storyline, the game leans into decision-making: what treasures you chase, who you help or betray, and, ultimately, how the protagonist will be remembered when it’s over. All of that plays out in a handcrafted environment built around a reactive open-world approach, supported by roguelite elements.

Combat is the main event, though, and the Czech studio is proudly spotlighting what it calls the RTL (Right-Torso-Left) combat system, designed to emphasize more precise and visceral encounters. Players are expected to choose their targets carefully, striking specific body parts to exploit weaknesses, shatter armor, or push through obstacles with brute force or skill. The team’s stated aim is to deliver intense, demanding duels where every move has weight.

In Kromlech, decisions don’t just affect you, they change the world

Backing this up is the so-called Crisis System, positioned as the heart of the Kromlech experience. Every few days, the world is rocked by a Crisis – a major event that can bend the kingdom’s fate in a new direction. With that pressure in place, players have a limited window to deal with it, and choosing to ignore it or failing to overcome it leaves permanent damage in the form of World Scars, making the journey progressively more dangerous and hostile.

Thanks to its roguelite hooks and the randomness of environments and threats, Kromlech is aiming to stand out, at least on the strength of its mix of ideas. However, as noted from the start, it won’t arrive as a complete package on day one: Kromlech launches in early access on March 5, exclusively on PC.
