In some respects, Konami‘s collection has favorable system requirements, while in others, they are a bit daunting.
Several remasters were announced during State of Play that will soon allow players to enjoy classic games on modern consoles and PCs. Although hints had emerged over the past few months, the announcement of Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 came as a pleasant surprise, as did the relatively low PC system requirements. Based on the minimum and recommended system requirements posted on Steam shortly after Sony‘s presentation, any player with a relatively modern CPU should be able to enjoy the remastered versions of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.
Minimum system requirements:
Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
Operating system: Windows 11
Processor: Intel Core i5-9600K (no AMD equivalent mentioned)
Memory: 16 GB RAM
Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 (no AMD/Intel equivalent mentioned)
DirectX: DX12
Broadband Internet connection
Storage: 34 GB available space, SSD recommended
Recommended system requirements:
Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
Operating system: Windows 11
Processor: Intel Core i5-10500 (no AMD equivalent mentioned)
Memory: 16 GB RAM
Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 (no AMD/Intel equivalent mentioned)
DirectX: DX12
Broadband Internet connection
Storage: 34 GB available space, SSD recommended
However, Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 requires 16 GB of RAM, even on the lowest settings, which is surprising considering the systems on which the two games were originally released. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, one of the most complex PlayStation 3 games, ran on a system with only 256 MB. This illustrates how much game development and technical requirements have evolved since 2008.
Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 will be released on August 27 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Old Snake is not old Snake.
