Ubisoft has activated Snake’s classic voice for his guest appearance in the French publisher’s live-service game, which has been running for over a decade and can therefore be considered a success.
Spider-Man is a Magic: The Gathering card. Eric Cartman drives a cardboard mech in Fortnite. Another unusual guest appearance will be made when the new season launches on March 3: Solid Snake will be an operator in Rainbow Six Siege. A teaser previewing this news was released in January, and now a full trailer has appeared alongside the 11th-year roadmap, which previews the next year of Siege.
The four seasons represent a new content rhythm, with new updates every three weeks. The most notable new features of the first season include a new 1v1 arcade mode, the end of Dual Front, and updated versions of the Coastline, Villa, and Oregon maps. Next, Dokkaebi will be remastered with a new primary weapon, ranked play will be revamped, and consoles will receive keyboard and mouse support (paired with PC players, of course). The second season will also see the release of a new casino map based on Rainbow Six: Vegas.
The third season will feature a new operator and a Legend Division playlist where Champion-ranked players can enjoy a solo, ranked-only queue. Each new season will modernize three maps and include various minor changes. Ubisoft has proven that it has long-term plans for Rainbow Six Siege, and this roadmap promises much for the coming year, with or without Snake. Furthermore, Snake will be voiced by David Hayter, who voiced Snake in the PS1 era. Great idea!
Despite Ubisoft‘s current challenges (depreciation, strikes, canceled games, and the merger with China’s Tencent), this is a game the company can be proud of. Ubisoft has failed with live service games more than once. Does anyone remember Hyper Scape? No? That’s exactly what we’re talking about.
