Did Hasbro Shut Down One of Its Studios? The Company Denies It!

Hasbro reportedly shut down the studio working on a G.I. JoeSnake Eyes game.

Atomic Arcade, a studio owned by Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast that was developing the game, has reportedly closed. Former team member and game programmer Dominic Braun revealed the news on LinkedIn, saying he was laid off following Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast‘s decision to shut down Atomic Arcade. Neither Hasbro, Wizards of the Coast, nor Atomic Arcade has made an official statement about the closure or the fate of the Snake Eyes project.

We first learned about the game in 2022, when Atomic Arcade was seemingly established with the goal of making it. Between 2022 and 2025, the studio actively shared updates about plans to expand the team, with the last significant update being a brief look at Atomic Arcade‘s Snake Eyes model in May of last year.

This is the latest studio closure and mass layoff of the year, following Ubisoft‘s major restructuring at the beginning of 2026, which included shutting down several studios. There have also been layoffs at Meta that ended development on Camouflaj‘s award-winning VR games, while Riot Games laid off nearly half of the 2XKO development team shortly after the release of the game’s 1.0 version. Most notably, Wildlight Entertainment, the developer of Highguard, laid off most of its team just two weeks after Highguard launched.

At least in those cases, the studios involved had shipped a game. Atomic Arcade apparently did not get the same chance, and now it looks like fans of G.I. Joe and Snake Eyes who were hoping for a major release built around the iconic ninja will have to wait a little longer. That is one less game for Hasbro‘s portfolio of IP-based projects, even as we know multiple titles based on Hasbro IP are currently in development.

A Hasbro representative sent the following statement to WCCFTech: “The Snake Eyes game is not canceled. The team is currently taking time to evaluate the path forward for the game. While decisions haven’t been finalized, we’re committed to providing updates as soon as we’re able.”

This is probably still a cancellation.
