KOEI TECMO Europe and Team NINJA say Nioh 3 has passed one million copies sold worldwide, the quickest entry in the franchise to reach that mark – while the broader Nioh series has now moved more than ten million units globally.
To mark the milestone, the publisher has released an accolades trailer. Nioh 3 is available now on PlayStation 5 and on Windows PC via Steam, with a free demo on the same platforms that lets players sample the opening stretch of the journey.
Players step into the role of Tokugawa Takechiyo, positioned to become the next shogun during Japan’s prosperous Edo period. The developers are pitching the story as the series’ biggest in scope so far, spanning multiple eras and regions – including Edo Castle, the Totomi region during the Warring States period, Kyoto in the Heian period, and, for the first time in the franchise, the Bakumatsu period.
Each era is designed as a large open field meant for free exploration, with distinct environments built to look and feel different from one another. Nioh 3 and the wider Nioh franchise are also featured as part of the British Museum’s blockbuster Samurai exhibition, which is open to the public until May 4, 2026.
The game offers Japanese and English voice options, with text support in English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish.
