Will New Processors Also Be Delayed Due to the Memory Crisis?

TECH NEWS – A rumor suggests Intel‘s new CPU family will reach customers later than expected…

The PC industry is going through a rough period, not only because of the retail landscape, but also because many manufacturers have started revisiting their original product plans – something we have already seen in the consumer GPU segment. It looks like this is now spilling over to gamer-focused CPUs as well. According to leaker Golden Pig Upgrade, Nova Lake is not coming anytime soon, with its launch reportedly pushed to 2027. That would suggest Intel is already accounting for an upcoming “product winter”, meaning a shortage of new releases…

The Intel Nova Lake-S desktop processor family is one of the company’s most anticipated products, as Intel plans to roll in multiple architectural updates that should, at least in theory, help it stay competitive with AMD. Major changes are expected in core configurations, the use of bLLC cache tiles, and, more importantly, the headline performance figures, with Nova Lake-S positioned as an extreme-performance product.

The insider does not explicitly say why the CPU launch is being delayed, only claiming manufacturers are targeting the CES 2027 window – early in the year – but based on what we’ve seen so far, there may be a clear reason. Intel is facing heavy enterprise demand for its Xeon lineup, to the point where the company says it is dealing with capacity constraints as it allocates more resources toward the consumer segment. The reported Nova Lake delay is one of the signals suggesting Intel is also pivoting to meet the needs of the AI industry.

We have also heard that AMD is planning to launch its Olympic Ridge Zen 6 desktop CPUs in 2027, which would likewise represent a delay of nearly two quarters. In both cases, however, no concrete schedule for the following year has been pinned down, so it is possible these next-generation CPUs could slip even further.
