The Latest Colleen Hoover Film Will Be a Hit Too

MOVIE NEWS – The sixth Colleen Hoover film has arrived in theaters – after It Ends With Us and Regretting You – and it also looks destined for victory at the box office.

At least that is the view of industry insiders, who estimate that Reminders of Him could earn $10-15 million during its North American opening weekend, then go on to mirror the success of Regretting You, which achieved a 3.6 return multiple, meaning its total gross ended up being 3.6 times its production budget. The new release, aimed primarily at women between 18 and 34, is opening now in 57 countries outside the United States, including Hungary.

The success of Reminders of Him seems likely because this is a global pop-culture brand. Anyone who has stepped into a bookstore in recent years, or spent any time scrolling social media, has almost certainly seen the pastel-colored covers of the author’s books and the nickname CoHo. Why? Because the former social worker became one of the most widely read authors of our time by relying on a formula that clearly works, and that same formula is now filling movie theaters around the world with adaptations of her work. She plays the strings of emotion with real skill and tackles painful subjects with disarming honesty. On the pages of CoHo novels – and in the films based on them – topics such as the dynamics of domestic abuse, grief and unresolved trauma, toxic family relationships, and the often hopeless maze of “right decisions” all take center stage.

The novel Reminders of Him has been published in 45 languages and sold more than 10 million copies worldwide. The heroine of the film adaptation, played by Maika Monroe, has just been released from prison, and all she wants is to repair her relationship with her little daughter. Rebuilding her life is hellishly difficult, however, because everyone is hostile toward her because of her past, and only a sympathetic bar owner, played by Tyriq Withers, shows her any understanding. It soon becomes clear that the former convict can build a new life only if she confronts the serious mistakes of her past. The cast is further strengthened by fan favorites such as Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls, Bad Santa) and Grammy-winning country star Lainey Wilson.
