4 Penny Coffins: a Team-Based Investigation in the Late 19th Century [VIDEO]

Although Other Ocean has only announced its 1888-set game for PC, it still managed to catch our attention.

In 4 Penny Coffins, up to eight players take part in online multiplayer, hunting a hidden murderer through lies, shifting alibis, and hard evidence. This social investigation game also includes a solo mode for brave souls willing to face the fog alone. The streets are dangerous. Fear spreads with every body found. In 4 Penny Coffins, one player becomes the Ripper, a demonic killer driven by the urge to murder, while the others race to uncover the truth before the next victim falls.

It is a new spin on the usual social deception formula. Gather evidence from crime scenes, question suspects, track suspicious behavior, and piece together clues. The Ripper must deceive everyone and redirect suspicion while avoiding exposure. Investigators, meanwhile, must separate fact from fiction before paranoia tears the group apart. Trust is fragile. Evidence can be faked. And time is not on your side.

Every night follows a deliberate three-phase cycle. The Ripper hunts. The players investigate. Then, in a formal and structured Conviction phase, the evidence is weighed and a verdict is delivered. There is no endless shouting. There are no stalled arguments. Every round reaches a resolution.

Thanks to dynamic roles and player-driven outcomes, no two matches unfold the same way. Playable solo or in multiplayer, 4 Penny Coffins blends social deduction with investigative mechanics to create tense, unpredictable sessions where trust is built slowly and lost instantly. Someone will hang for these crimes. Make sure it is not you.

4 Penny Coffins has so far only been announced for PC, and its release date is still unknown. It may eventually make its way to consoles as well, perhaps PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, since Nintendo Switch 2 dev kits are reportedly extremely rare. Still, we would not bet on it.

She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
