Marvel Confirms Where Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Fits into the MCU Timeline

MOVIE NEWS – Marvel has now clarified exactly where Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 sits on the MCU timeline. The update confirms that the series takes place after Thunderbolts* and before Wonder Man, but that placement also raises some awkward questions about why nobody seems to mention a few major events in New York.

Less than a week after Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 premiered on Disney+, Marvel officially confirmed where the series belongs in the wider MCU chronology. With the cinematic universe now 18 years old in 2026 and packed with films and shows spread across multiple heroes and storylines, fans have become increasingly obsessed with figuring out how everything fits together, especially after the five-year time jump introduced in Avengers: Endgame.

According to Marvel’s official website, Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 takes place after Thunderbolts* and before Wonder Man. For context, the second season happens six months after the events of the first, while most of Season 1 unfolded between January and April 2027. That would place the new season in October 2027, which lines up neatly with the fan theory that Thunderbolts* takes place in September or October 2027, based in part on Valentina’s line about Bucky Barnes’ congressional term.

The shadow of Thunderbolts is already hanging over the show

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 had already established a connection to Thunderbolts*, since Matthew Lillard’s Mr. Charles is working for Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, who is also involved with Kingpin. Now that Marvel has confirmed the season takes place after Thunderbolts*, it immediately raises the question of why neither Wilson Fisk nor Matt Murdock has referenced the Void incident or the New Avengers, both of which would surely have been massive news in New York City. That could even open the door for one of the team’s members to make a cameo appearance in the series.

The placement of Wonder Man after Daredevil: Born Again is just as interesting, as it suggests that the Disney+ show takes place sometime in late 2027 or early 2028. It had previously been speculated that Wonder Man was set in 2026, mainly because of Trevor Slattery’s line about having been sober for “13 years,” which seemed to place things somewhere after 2013’s Iron Man 3. That theory may still survive, though, because the Wonder Man finale includes a time jump following the premiere of Simon Williams’ in-universe movie, which had already been assumed to happen in 2027 or 2028. That also fits with the idea that Avengers: Doomsday is set in 2028, something the Thunderbolts* post-credit scene appears to support.

The Defenders Saga just became easier to map out

The updated MCU timeline also confirmed a few other noteworthy details. It turns out that Daredevil Season 2, Luke Cage Season 1, Iron Fist Season 1, and The Defenders all take place before the events of Captain America: Civil War. Meanwhile, the final entries in the Defenders Saga, including Jessica Jones Season 3 and The Punisher Season 2, occur before Ant-Man and the Wasp and Avengers: Infinity War. That leaves Marvel plenty of room to explore what characters like Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and the Punisher were doing during the now-canon eight-year gap since they were last seen.

Echo had already confirmed that neither Daredevil nor Kingpin was dusted by Thanos’ snap, which means their war has now been playing out across more than 12 years of MCU history. That alone is a pretty wild stretch of continuity.
