After Microsoft originally announcing the Xbox One in 2013 May, talking about a constant online requirement isn’t always a good thing: in the end, the Redmond company had to change the console. Ghost Games‘ Need For Speed will also require us to have a constant internet connection, but this time around, the developers have told us why does the Need For Speed reboot have this.
According to the game’s executive producer Marcus Nilsson, the Autolog system was very important for them (it was already seen in 2012’s Most Wanted – several Criterion devs have moved to Ghost Games), and they consider it a powerful tool. But they want to give it a much more human voice, treating friends’ play as part of that narrative experience.
There’s also going to be an automatic image sharing system, and these pictures can be liked, which in return will give the creators in-game currency. Therefore, making images will give progress.
This is all fine and dandy, but honestly, this is a quite disappointing reasoning by Ghost Games. These two things aren’t features that the players would all use without a second question.
