The Chinese studio had planned to add some major features to the game, which was released on August 20 for PlayStation 5 and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, and WePlay in China), but they were left out.
The video embedded below is in Chinese, so not many will understand exactly what Outrageous Dong Chai’s video is about. But you can still get the gist of it without knowing the language. In the game code for Black Myth: Wukong, there are hints about what the studio had planned earlier. Originally, it was not only supposed to have a story with many more chapters (with the possibility of a sequel and a sequel if this was not implemented, which has already been confirmed…), but also a multiplayer segment!
There are hints in the game code about joining or creating rooms, there was also talk about role configuration, and these are all things that are not usually present in a single player action RPG. Because a lobby is an element that’s mostly used in multiplayer games, so there were plans, but they were probably too big and had to be cut back during development to get the game done.
Black Myth: Wukong is still not released for the Xbox Series X/Xbox Series S, and Microsoft has already denied that it wasn’t their fault that Game Science’s game, which has sold over 18 million copies, wasn’t released for the Redmond-based company’s console after rumors that it wasn’t stable enough on the Xbox Series due to a memory leak. We still don’t know when this port will be released, but it should be a top priority for the team.
With these excellent sales results, Black Myth: Wukong is almost certain to get a sequel, and hopefully it won’t be on a too old Unreal Engine 5.
