“I F***ing Wanted It to Be Finished!”- Colin Farrell Tells Us What It’s Like to Be The Penguin

MOVIE NEWS – The first and so far only season of the series starring Colin Farrell will premiere this week.

Despite the many doubts regarding his signing, it soon became apparent in Batman that Matt Reeves made the right decision when he assigned the role of Oz Cobblepot to Colin Farrell. He authentically portrayed Gotham’s infamous main villain, thanks to the huge make-up and mask work that the Irish actor went through. All this was enough to make him not want to shoot more episodes as The Penguin…

The transformation took a toll on Colin Farrell

The actor spoke about his experiences in an interview with Total Film. He made it clear that he was willing to return if he was called back and there was a good script, but he also stated that while filming the series, he wanted it to end:

“Don’t get me wrong – I loved it – but it got in on me a little bit. By the end of it, I was bitching and moaning to anyone who would listen to me that I f***ing wanted it to be finished (…) But when I finished I was like, ‘I never want to put that f***ing suit and that f***ing head on again.'”

Farrell insists he really enjoyed the character despite everything he’s been through.

He expressed how privileged he was to be a part of such a legacy. “I grew up watching Burgess Meredith, and then Danny DeVito was my Penguin,” he added. In other words, he’s eager to come back, although he’s on hiatus and involved in other projects for now. Because the filming of such a series is so time-consuming that it is not very possible to take on other film roles alongside it.

Pingvin will premiere on Max on September 19. The season consists of eight episodes in total. We are very much looking forward to it! You will be able to read our review on the site on the day of the premiere at the latest.
