The hugely popular Minecraft is primarily developed by Mojang, but its console versions have been handled by an independent British team, 4J Studios. Specializing in ports, this team is now working on its own game, and it’s pretty obvious they’re aiming to recreate a Minecraft-like experience.
Reforj has just received its first trailer, where actual gameplay is shown. In this game, players will explore procedurally generated, blocky worlds, though not everything is made of cubes—blocks can be shaped somewhat. You’ll encounter exotic creatures and strange natural elements as you break down the environment for resources, building your own home from the materials you gather.
According to the developers, the world of Reforj will be constantly changing as players try to uncover the secrets of a lost civilization. The game runs on something called the Elements Engine.
Reforj does not have a release date yet, but it will be coming to PC (via Steam), Xbox, and PlayStation. Testing phases are planned for the future, but no details have been shared yet.
