Ex-Devs of Disco Elysium Create a New “Psychogeographical RPG” Sequel! [VIDEO]

…and besides them, there is ANOTHER team made up of former members of ZA/UM; can you keep track of that?

Let’s start with Longdue. Members of this group previously worked on Disco Elysium and its unreleased sequel, as well as Bungie, Rockstart and Brave at Night. They have already secured seed funding to develop a psychogeographic RPG with a deep story that will continue the legacy of Disco Elysium.

Longdue’s debut RPG explores the delicate interplay between the conscious and the subconscious, the seen and the unseen. Set in a world where choices are made between the character’s psyche and the environment, players will navigate an ever-changing landscape shaped by both internal and external forces. The game introduces a groundbreaking “psychogeographic RPG” mechanic in which every decision reshapes both the world and the characters that inhabit it. In this experience, the lines between mind and environment blur, colliding and transforming with each choice, guiding players through an ever-evolving narrative landscape.

While Longdue’s debut project draws on the creative energy and legacy of Disco Elysium and other beloved RPGs like Planescape: Torment, it’s also designed to stand on its own as a meaningful addition to the RPG genre. Longdue is committed to creating games that carry the weight of thoughtful design and compelling storytelling, positioning the studio as a steady, reliable voice in RPG development. Longdue is committed to creating games that resonate emotionally and intellectually. The studio is here to build a reputation for consistently delivering quality with a focus on depth and narrative integrity. This is just the beginning of Longdue’s journey to become a trusted name in the greater RPG canon.

“At Longdue, we’re inspired by decades of classic RPGs, from Ultima and Wizardry to Fallout and Planescape to the justifiably revered Disco Elysium. We’re excited to continue that legacy with another narrative-first, psychological RPG where the interplay between inner worlds and outer landscapes is the beating heart of the experience. We’re building a world-class team for a world-class game that will tell a world-class story, and we can’t wait to show you more,” said Narrative Director Grant Roberts in a press release. “We are excited to back the work of an incredible team of creative talent and to support the development of a new type of narrative-first video game experience and associated technology to improve the creation of these games across the video game industry,” added Longdue investor representative Riaz Moola.

And then let’s look at the THIRD new team and game announced in one day. Dark Math Games was also founded by ex-Disco Elysium developers. Their first game will be an investigative RPG, XXX Nightshift. At least they announced the name of the game and the target platform (PC – Steam; no release date yet). The team consists of about 20 people, about half of them worked on Disco Elysium and its version The Final Cut.

Powerful, finely tuned, innovative. It’s up to you how your story unfolds – and how it ends. Follow your truths or just skim the surface. A fresh role-playing system that respects your time, trusts your intelligence, and plays along with your every choice. Play as a true three-dimensional person. Combine 20 traits across four categories to shape your character any way you want. A unique companion dynamic gives you many ways to solve the crimes. Engage in social climbing, soul digging, man-eating, and more, depending on your choices and luck.

Tune your investigative mind to prepare for interrogations, confrontations, and seductions. Anticipate what’s coming and improve your odds. But beware of the side effects-there’s always a price to pay. Rehearse your moves. Dance through crime scenes. Drift through parties. Or find joy in the simplest of tasks. Get better with every action. Use Marafet calculations to alter your time and space. Go deep with insights and discover connections, but make sure you’ll be able to surface again. The game lands you in a luxury resort that shouldn’t exist, with people you shouldn’t know. In the endless polar night, amidst the orgies of politics, power, and poetry, something terrible awaits. In the year 2086 A.D., you really can’t go much further south than World’s End, Antarctica. Have fun.

“In addition to innovating traditional RPG mechanics, we’re going to bring something fresh to the table. You will see. And, of course, a few fewer words. And maybe a few more bullets. All in all: a lot more fun,” said Dark Math Games co-founder, art director and tactical lead Timo Albert in a press release. So in one day, THREE continuations to ZA/UM were unveiled.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
