Nvidia Blackwell: AI GPUs in High Demand, Fully Booked for a Year!

TECH NEWS – Interest in the next architecture of AI-focused GPUs is so strong that Nvidia has booked twelve months’ worth of inventory in advance…

Nvidia’s next-generation product line could be the company’s most successful yet, as interest has reached unprecedented levels. Blackwell’s capabilities and computing power have attracted the interest of several major tech companies, including Microsoft, Meta, Oracle, and OpenAI, who have all purchased AI GPUs from them, and now Morgan Stanley claims that “the greens” have sold so much of their unproduced inventory (!) that there will be a shortage of stock in the next period… some companies have purchased 100,000 GPUs in a single order.

Jensen Huang and Colette Kress, Nvidia’s CEO and CFO, had a chat with Joseph Moore, an analyst at Morgan Stanley. Moore said that artificial intelligence is a long-term investment, and it is a technology that can expect sustainable growth. Morgan Stanley upgraded its rating on Nvidia stock and believes that Blackwell will play a key role in the company’s growth. Nothing proves this more than the fact that shares are booked for next year!

Blackwell is much more interesting than the previous generation technology, Hopper, but we should add that it was Hopper that started the AI hype in the first place, and without it, Nvidia could not have become a trillion dollar company. By comparison, we dare not imagine how much Blackwell will boost the company’s results. All we know for sure is that Huang’s value is already greater than Intel’s combined!

Nvidia is now focusing not only on raw computing power, but also on the inference market. The latter has recently seen a huge growth with the debut of “inferential AI models” such as OpenAI o1. Inferencing was previously rumored to be a segment dominated by Intel, given its focus on early inferencing capabilities, but it seems that “the blues” are not even on the street corner.

The question is how much impact this strong demand for desktop graphics cards (GeForce RTX 5000) will have…
