RyseUp Studios and Starbreeze Studios (yes, the same Starbreeze behind Payday!) are bringing the roguelite first-person shooter to two more platforms.
Roboquest launched in early access on PC (Steam, Microsoft Store) on August 20, 2020, and then the Xbox Series and Xbox One got the same approach (Game Preview) on January 30, 2023. The full release was on November 7, 2023, so it spent more than three years in early access on PC and almost ten months on consoles. It won’t be on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, as Roboquest is scheduled to debut in full on Sony’s consoles immediately.
Set in a scorched future world, Roboquest invites players to step into the shoes of a Guardian tasked with fighting a rogue AI to give humanity a fighting chance at survival. Playable in either single-player or two-player online co-op, this energetic first-person shooter delivers action-packed gameplay, randomly generated environments, and dynamic combat that ensures no two runs are ever the same. Players will blast through a variety of environments, from desolate canyons to futuristic cityscapes, collecting upgrades and weapons while facing off against tough enemies and challenging bosses. With each run, you’ll unlock new persistent upgrades and further customize your base camp, creating new strategies and refining your play style as you push to go deeper with each attempt.
Choose from multiple classes: lead your army of drones, blast tons of enemies at once with a powerful missile, or stealth in for a sudden burst attack. Customize your build along the way with unique sets of upgrades for each class, finding powerful synergies and further personalizing your play style. From standard shotguns, rifles and sniper rifles to the almighty mortar and flare gun, Roboquest offers a wide variety of weapons to choose from. Each level has a different theme and atmosphere, generated with a careful mix of pre-placed and randomized chunks, offering a fresh challenge every time you play. Tough challenges await you and mastery is required. Learn the enemy’s ways and master movement and shooting to prevail. Prepare to return to your base camp if you are destroyed by the evil bots. Collect wrenches during your runs and use them to upgrade your base camp and unlock new gameplay elements and choices to help you dive deeper into the game with each run.
Roboquest will be available for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 in the first half of 2025.
