Black Ops 6 Promises Longer Campaign and Won’t Repeat Modern Warfare 3’s Mistakes!

After the harsh criticism of Modern Warfare 3, the upcoming Black Ops 6 won’t make the same errors. Get ready for a better, longer campaign mode!

Some intriguing new details have emerged about the development of Black Ops 6‘s campaign mode. While Modern Warfare 3’s story mode took a hit from critics, the developers behind Black Ops 6 didn’t let it affect their work. They were too focused on crafting their own story.

Remember the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 campaign? It was one of the shortest in the franchise’s history, and many consider it one of the weakest. On Steam, the game has earned “Mostly Negative” reviews, showing just how rushed the project was. Bloomberg reported that the development cycle was only around 16 months, compared to the typical 3-year process. However, the team behind Black Ops 6 has decided to break that cycle and deliver something much more polished.

It’s been confirmed that the development of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has stretched over four years, showing just how much time and effort Treyarch and the other studios are pouring into this game. Recently, Jon Zuk, associate director at Raven Software (the studio responsible for the campaign), sat down with IGN to discuss the story mode and revealed some important insights. When asked about the criticism Modern Warfare 3 received for its narrative, Zuk explained that the team wasn’t too concerned, as they were completely focused on their own project.

Black Ops 6 Campaign Will Be Longer Than Cold War

We were already focused on the story and the missions we were creating, so we didn’t react to the feedback from the last game.” The extended development period allowed the team to run more tests, improve the missions, and refine the gameplay. They’ve also ensured that the campaign will be longer than Call of Duty: Cold War. “I think the game’s length will vary for each player, but even if you try to speed through it, it’s going to be longer than Cold War.” he noted.

“When the development cycle is short, you sometimes end up with elements you’re not as happy with due to time constraints. But this time, we had the opportunity to keep fine-tuning and reworking the missions until we were completely satisfied with them.” As for Black Ops 6 potentially launching on Game Pass, Zuk commented that while he isn’t involved in the business side, he believes Activision is “very confident” about the game’s success.
