Capcom has officially confirmed that Resident Evil 7 and the Resident Evil 2 and 3 Remakes will arrive in physical editions for PS5 by the end of 2024. This announcement confirms yesterday’s leak, which hinted at a December release.

The resurgence of the Resident Evil series reaches new heights. Capcom’s winning strategy, initiated post-Resident Evil 7 with a mix of classic game remakes and new installments, has reinvigorated the franchise and driven the Japanese company’s growing success. And they aren’t stopping here. Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil 7, as well as the Resident Evil 2 and 3 Remakes, will hit PS5 in physical format at the end of 2024 across Europe.

Yesterday’s leak suggested a December launch, a date later confirmed by Australian retailer JB Hi-Fi, listing the trio for a December 6 release at AU$49 each, roughly translating to €30.

Capcom’s website has now officially confirmed that Resident Evil 7 and the Resident Evil 2 and 3 Remakes are coming to PS5 in physical form on December 6 in Europe. There’s no word yet on whether Resident Evil 7 will include a Gold Edition, which offers additional content such as Zoe’s End and I Am No Hero.

The announcement has also sparked speculation about potential optimizations for PS5 Pro, although it’s too early for additional details. It’s known that these games have already received next-gen upgrades for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, so, except for minor performance tweaks in the launch patch, this physical version is expected to remain largely unchanged.

Resident Evil 4 Remake: Record-Breaking Sales

Capcom has every reason to be proud of its recent work on the series. Just last week, the company announced that Resident Evil 4 Remake has sold over 8 million copies within 19 months of its March 2023 launch, making it one of the fastest-selling titles in the franchise’s history. Although it’s not the series’ best-selling game, it surpasses Resident Evil Village, which took 25 months to reach the same milestone, and the Resident Evil 2 Remake, which needed over two years.
