The game from MachineGames (produced by Todd Howard, a well-known developer at Bethesda Game Studios) won’t stop perfectionists from doing everything…
The studio known for the Wolfenstein reboot (which should be making Wolfenstein III soon, right?) has given IGN more details about the story of Indiana Jones’ new adventure and the game’s world-building. Jens Andersson, creative director for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, talked about how we’ll be able to complete everything even though we’ll have a linear story for the adventurer:
“Well, in some ways it’s obviously a linear, very driven story that takes you around the world. We’re doing this a little bit differently than previous games we’ve worked on where you can go back to previous locations and continue from there. It’s almost like a time jump. So you will be able to play 100 percent of the game on a single save. And the reason we do it that way is because we have these really wide, big areas like Giza, and then we have stretches of more linear rollercoaster rides, and there’s a lot of optional content in there… a lot of hidden mysteries and things like that.
So we want players who are focused on the story to be able to play through it, and if they really love an area, they can go back and just finish it without having to replay the more linear parts. It doesn’t fit into the narrative, but from a gameplay perspective you can do it. It’s more of a linear story to be honest. It’s really well told, well acted by our amazing cast with a proper conclusion. And then you can go on and discover everything the world has to offer,” Andersson said.
He also said that you can set the combat and puzzles separately in terms of difficulty. The combat will have four difficulty levels (easy, medium, hard, very hard) and the puzzles will only have two. So you can really immerse yourself in the story of the game.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is coming to Xbox Series and PC on December 9 (Xbox Game Pass will get it), and will hit PlayStation 5 sometime in the spring.
