Elden Ring: Enhanced Performance Without a PlayStation 5 Pro Update! [VIDEO]

From Software’s game shows that Sony’s latest console can outperform the base PlayStation 5, even in brute force…

Brazilian Pixel has shown it with the video embedded below, which provides excellent evidence that the Japanese developer’s action RPG runs very often in native 4K resolution (3840×2160), as in Performance mode, while maintaining a frame rate very close to 60 FPS. On the other hand, the other graphics mode, Quality, does not show such strong results. The performance is a bit shaky here, but despite the native 4K resolution, it can often run at 60 fps.

The PlayStation 5 Pro shows the biggest improvement in ray tracing, but given that the GPU has been tuned compared to the base model, this is essentially to be expected. The Elden Ring wasn’t that great on the base PlayStation 5, by the way, so this is definitely a big improvement over the PlayStation 5 Pro. Think about it, if FromSoftware made a dedicated patch for the PlayStation 5 Pro, how much better would the performance be on the console? Native 4K, 60 FPS, stable… it doesn’t seem impossible!

Elden Ring has also already received its big content add-on, Shadow of the Erdtree, which is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. FromSoftware’s plans are unclear at the moment, so we don’t hear much in the way of rumors about what IP Miyazaki Hidetaka and the studio might be working on. Perhaps the team will return to Armored Core, as a new installment was recently released (Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon).

The PlayStation 5 Pro is available in stores today for $700/€800. You’ll have to spend a bit more if you want a vertical stand or a Blu-ray drive (neither of which come standard with the console).
