Assassin’s Creed Shadows: Ubisoft has a rather strange collaboration!

Although we’ve seen some unusual collaborations for an AAA title before, the French publisher can top (bottom?) that for the next episode of the Assassin’s Creed franchise.

On Twitter, Access The Animus announced that one of their users had shared a picture on their Discord server of a partnership that we weren’t expecting at all, as the accompanying images showed Assassin’s Creed Shadows… on a Red Bull stand! We understand that Red Bull gives us wings, but this is highly unusual! It’s true, we didn’t mention the unusual collaboration for nothing: when Kojima Productions released Death Stranding for PlayStation 4 in 2019, Sam “Porter” Bridges drank a lot of Monster energy drinks…

Let’s back up a bit, because this isn’t the first time in the history of the Assassin’s Creed franchise that the French publisher has partnered with an energy drink company. In fact, back in 2017’s Assassin’s Creed: Origins, you could get weapons in the game… if you bought Monster energy drinks. So Monster is much more into video game cross-promotion (they may have done something similar with Call of Duty as well, but our memories aren’t sharp enough to recall the exact details).

It’s too early to speculate on what in-game content Ubisoft and Red Bull will bring us, but it’s likely that this collaboration was already a done deal, as Assassin’s Creed Shadows was originally scheduled for release in November, but Yves Guillemot (seeing the poor sales of Star Wars: Outlaws…) pushed it back to 2025 instead. So it’s a bit strange that you can get codes from the energy drinks now, but we’ll have to wait a few more months for the game’s release. Red Bull didn’t really want to change their planned schedule? We understand.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be released on February 14th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, Mac and iPad. Interestingly, this time it seems to be missing Amazon Luna, a cloud platform similar to Google Stadia…
