No Man’s Sky: After 8 Years, Sean Murray’s Game has Reached a Huge Milestone!

Hello Games is right to break out the champagne, as No Man’s Sky has accomplished something that was not expected in 2016…

In August 2016, after much hype, No Man’s Sky was released on PlayStation 4 and PC in a flawed and buggy format. On Metacritic, the average score for the PC version to date on a scale of 1-100 is only 61, which is not very good, and at the time, gamers were highly critical of the game on Steam. A month after the game’s release, the UK’s Advertising Standards Authority launched an investigation into the numerous complaints. A few months later, the court found Hello Games not guilty, but the reception of the game has not changed.

But Hello Games did not give up. They started to develop and expand the game, and they did it for FREE. This is certainly something we won’t see from Todd Howard and Bethesda Game Studios with Starfield! Years have passed, and many major updates and a lot of new content have been added to No Man’s Sky, which has since appeared on every console for the last two generations (and looks good on PlayStation 5 Pro, as we wrote about).

In September 2021, No Man’s Sky went from a Mixed rating to a Mostly Positive rating on Steam. Now, a little over three years later, Murray (who also manages the game’s social media platforms) tweeted that the game has reached another milestone. Now No Man’s Sky has moved into the Very Positive category, and Murray can’t believe it. He’s very grateful for it and says that he can’t tell you how much it means to the studio.

Congratulations to Hello Games, the studio has come a long way and is now surrounded by fans. Hopefully their next game, Light No Fire, will be just as successful (it’s a true planet-sized multiplayer sandbox RPG).
