MegaPixel Studio and Forever Entertainment are bringing another game from the past back to the present, and this one isn’t exactly a new title either.
The House of the Dead 2: Remake is a remake of the second entry in the well-known and popular rail shooter series. Take on the role of a secret agent as James or Gary, or team up in cooperative mode to neutralize the dangerous undead monsters that stand in your way. In February 2000, a small town was suddenly overrun by hostile creatures. Two AMS agents, James Taylor and Gary Stewart, were sent to investigate. Upon arrival, they discovered that the situation was similar to the Curien Mansion incident of 1998. Determined to find the source of the infestation, they began shooting their way through the hordes of creatures.
House of the Dead 2: Remake will feature a revamped soundtrack, but if you prefer the classic soundtrack, that’s also an option. The graphics will also be modernized, while the gameplay will remain faithful to the original. There will also be a co-op mode, multiple endings and branching paths. In addition to the classic Story Mode, Boss Mode will challenge you to take down bosses as quickly as possible, and Training Mode will allow you to hone your skills in the many scenarios available so that you can enter the thick of things as prepared as possible.
House of the Dead 2 was originally released in late 1998. The SEGA Dreamcast port followed in spring (Japan)/autumn (West) 1999, the PC port in summer 2001, and the Nintendo Wii version in March 2008. So it’s a relatively old title, and it’s understandable that it’s getting a remake from the duo MegaPixel Studio/Forever Entertainment. The first installment was released in April 2022 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch.
House of the Dead 2: Remake will be released this spring for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC (Steam, GOG), PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. Hopefully it won’t be technically problematic.
