Red Dead Redemption 2 Fans (and Arthur Morgan) Still Waiting for That Elusive Next-Gen Upgrade

Even Arthur Morgan has lost patience with Rockstar’s silence on a PS5 and Xbox Series X update for Red Dead Redemption 2. Roger Clark, who voiced the iconic gunslinger, jokingly echoed the fans’ frustration over the missing 60 FPS version.

It’s been nearly seven years since Red Dead Redemption 2 was released, and although it has sold over 70 million copies, Rockstar Games has yet to issue an official patch enabling 60 FPS support on modern consoles. The game, considered by many critics a masterpiece, seems to be frozen in time while all the attention has turned to GTA 6. Now even Roger Clark, the voice of Arthur Morgan, has spoken out, urging Rockstar—jokingly but pointedly—to finally release the long-requested upgrade.

Even Arthur Morgan’s actor wants a 60 FPS Red Dead Redemption 2

Since the launch of the new consoles in 2020, especially after the PS5 revision, fans have repeatedly asked for an upgrade. But Rockstar has remained deaf to these calls. Meanwhile, GTA V has received several enhanced editions, and the original Red Dead Redemption was re-released with 60 FPS support on PS4 and PC, marking a rare win for the studio. Still, the sequel remains untouched, despite growing demand.

In response to the growing frustration, Roger Clark made a sarcastic comment on social media, joking that he was personally working on the 60 FPS patch and that “it’ll be ready tomorrow after lunch”. The exchange got even funnier when Ned Luke, who plays Michael in GTA V, chimed in saying the patch would launch “at midnight, alongside GTA 6”.

This kind of humor between voice actors highlights the disconnect between fan enthusiasm for Red Dead Redemption 2 and Rockstar’s silence. Fans even mounted a campaign to save Red Dead Online due to the lack of updates, while GTA Online continues to receive consistent support.

At this point, the future of Red Dead Redemption 2 on current-gen consoles is unclear. But one thing is certain: the community—and the creators themselves—are still waiting, even half-jokingly, for Rockstar to give Arthur Morgan the technical love he deserves.
