The update, called The Breach, is a major content update, even though the game is still in Early Access.
The expanded narrative content features all-new quests and an extensive amount of high-quality cinematic animation as the campaign unfolds across 18 new story scenes. The new zones add several unique environments, nearly doubling the size of the world. Two new fully handcrafted areas, Lowland Meadows and Marin Woods, including a dangerous new Blight hazard to avoid. Two new settlements filled with NPCs, Hunter’s Vale and Marin Village, and a series of dark cave environments for players to explore. There are also new gameplay systems and replayability, with the introduction of the endgame plague system, a revamped food and starvation mechanic, and revamped stat effects that add depth to both combat and progression.
New equipment has also arrived: a massive expansion with over 150 weapon options (up from 100 at launch), including new gauntlet and staff archetypes, several all-new armor sets, and a complete redesign of the shield. Major additions to the game include several new campaign bosses, 9 new plague bosses, 3 updated bosses, 2 new enemy factions, nine new critters, and much more. Hardcore Mode is an all-new game mode with permadeath enabled for high-stakes gameplay. The developers have made major performance improvements including DLSS 4.0, memory optimizations, reduced load times and smoother physics. Quality of Life improvements include updated item previews, tooltip improvements, and fast travel enhancements. Extensive balance changes include weapons, armor, enemies, systems, and core progression. There’s also all-new music composed by Gareth Coker, updated audio, and new voiceovers. Hundreds of bug fixes cover everything from crashes and collision issues to visual polish and quest logic.
