Lies of P Devs Add Difficulty Modes to Make the Game More Welcoming

The developers behind Lies of P realized they need more players, and they’re now making their soulslike title more accessible with the upcoming summer expansion. Lies of P: Overture will cost €30 and will introduce difficulty options, which will also be integrated into the base game. The goal is to help players who find the genre too demanding.

Aside from FromSoftware‘s work, Lies of P has emerged as one of the most acclaimed soulslikes to date. Developed by Neowiz, the game stands out for its gothic atmosphere, refined combat, and challenging gameplay. Despite its success, players are eager to return to Pinocchio in the upcoming Overture expansion set for summer. The community is expecting hours of fresh content and meaningful updates.

Director Jiwon Choi has confirmed that Lies of P will receive difficulty modes for both the main game and the Overture expansion. In an interview with VGC, he said the decision comes in response to persistent feedback from players and the development team. In addition to the existing standard mode, two new options will be available: The Butterfly Guide and The Living Puppet, which offer a less punishing experience.

The Goal of Lies of P: To Have More Players Enjoy It

“We wanted to make sure it was playable by a wider audience. Of course, we received a lot of feedback from players and our developers. So, by making development adjustments and introducing these difficulty options, we can offer the experience to different types of players. This broadens our base.” Choi stated.

It’s also worth noting that the base game will receive updates, including difficulty settings and new Boss Rush modes.

Lies of P: Overture is set to launch this summer at a price of €30. Alongside the DLC, new Boss Rush modes named Battle Memories and Death Match will be included, allowing players to rematch bosses with heightened difficulty and extra rewards. The expansion acts as a prequel, set before the chaos in Krat, offering an estimated 15–20 hours of gameplay with fresh areas, tougher enemies, new bosses, and additional weapons.
