Sony Bend Studio and Sony Interactive Entertainment are trying to generate interest in the remastered version of the game, which initially did not sell well enough to be considered a blockbuster.
If you’re a big fan of Days Gone, you’ve probably already purchased the remaster for the PlayStation 5 (or the paid DLC for the PC version that introduced the new horde mode). Now, the game has received a major update with several new features. Sony and Bend Studio recently teamed up to support the game beyond the release of Days Gone Remastered. According to the patch notes, the changes mainly focus on balancing the gameplay. Bend Studio isn’t ignoring the PlayStation 5 Pro either, and if you don’t have a powerful enough PC, the half-generation console update is probably the best way to play.
This new patch updates the game to version 1.025.809. Four and a half years after the PlayStation 5 was released, we still don’t understand these version numbers—they could be simpler. The update brings improvements to Balanced mode for better performance and updates to PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution for the best visual experience possible. In addition, other tweaks address crashing issues that some players reported, and DualSense haptic feedback makes aiming more comfortable than ever.
On top of that, some audio cues have been changed, most notably the volume of Freakers when near the player has been increased, making it easier to hear them approach. Naturally, there are plenty of bug fixes as well, which is a broad way of saying the game needs a thorough review so the developers can eliminate all the issues. Based on fan feedback, the Horde Assault user interface has also been changed.
Perhaps the most amusing part is that an animation conflict was fixed that let Deacon launch himself great distances into the air. Deacon was probably a cannonball in a previous life… Sony likely eliminated a speedrun strategy with this update, if we had to guess.
