Voin: Nikita Sozidar’s Game Gets Better with the Permafrost Update! [VIDEO]

Nikita Sozidar is developing this game independently, so it will be a noteworthy project, especially for TinyBuild.

Voin is a first-person, hack-and-slash game with RPG elements set in open-world levels. You are an unstoppable force of nature that wields metal as a weapon. The world is broken, and you are its reckoning. You kill monsters and get loot, which is the game’s bread and butter. Instead of affixes that randomly increase stats, Sozidar focused on impactful features that change the way you play. For example, you might find a hammer called the Bell Ringer that summons ghostly bells. When hit, the bells damage everyone around. Another example is a powerful scythe that tears reality when you swing it, leaving behind scars that emit a freezing aura. You can also combine these two items into one. Find the symbiosis station at the hub and read the instructions carefully. Boom! You have dual wakizashis that poison everyone and summon fire tornadoes.

In the last major update, Thunderborn, the developer added a huge dungeon underneath the Cathedral of Veiled Lament. Now, though, he’s working on the game’s next major update, Permafrost. It features an absolutely massive new location: the Athenium of Thousand Names. Snow-covered mountains, ice giants, and perpetual blizzards make this a place that does not offer a warm welcome.

Another major feature of this update is proper character progression. Journey to the Hall of Reflection to find the new tree of talents (yes, your talent tree is an actual tree). While exploring, you’ll find Soul Fruits that you can attach to the tree to gain various bonuses, such as the ability to sprint. You can already play the talent tree update! The game is shaping up great, and there are many more exciting things to come, such as a new character, new weapon types (spears, daggers, and more), and new quests.

Voin is currently available via early access on PC through Steam.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
