Capcom has just lifted the curtain on Resident Evil 9, and the so-called Requiem promises to be much more than just a ninth installment. It’s a requiem for the dead and a nightmare for the living: prepare for a chilling experience powered by cutting-edge technology and a return to the iconic Raccoon City, with richer characters and the most immersive gameplay ever seen in the franchise.
Resident Evil Requiem stands as the boldest entry yet in the legendary survival horror series, completely reimagining what the genre can deliver. With the RE Engine and the raw power of modern consoles, this installment boasts lifelike facial animations, incredibly detailed skin textures, and hyper-realistic sweat beads that will keep players perpetually on edge. The story takes us back to Raccoon City—the ground zero of global biological disaster—where the series blends psychological terror and intense action, raising the bar even for veteran fans.
The protagonist of Requiem is Grace Ashcroft. She is an FBI agent who returns to the ruins of Raccoon City to investigate a series of murders. Grace Ashcroft is the daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft, who previously appeared in the Resident Evil Outbreak games as a journalist. The familiar-yet-new setting is poised to shake up everything fans thought they knew, offering the most intense gameplay to date. The official release date is February 27, with launches set for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC (and you can bet on Denuvo being included).
The game will offer full voice-overs and subtitles in English, Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, French, Italian, German, Castilian Spanish, Russian, and Mandarin, along with subtitle support in Korean, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Arabic, and Polish. The first playable demo will debut at Gamescom 2025, and Capcom promises even more reveals as the year goes on.
