Pera Coda: Disco Elysium, but Reimagined Through a Turkish Lens! [VIDEO]

Pera Coda is a haunting isometric narrative mystery set in the winding alleys of Istanbul’s historic Pera district. Developed by Turkish studios Elyzio and Falan, the game fuses the psychological storytelling of Disco Elysium, the puzzle loops of 12 Minutes, and the exploratory mystery of Outer Wilds to deliver an emotionally charged, neo-noir journey.

In Pera Coda, players embody Deniz, an attorney trapped in a liminal subconscious space between life and death. In this otherworldly purgatory, Deniz becomes both judge and defendant of his soul. Through impactful dialogue and layered environmental puzzles, players navigate his psyche, confronting buried memories, suppressed trauma, and deeply personal regrets.

Each cycle in the game reflects Deniz’s evolving psychological arc. He is stuck in a purgatorial loop, unable to die or move on, reliving moments shaped by love, guilt, and fractured relationships. The world around him shifts as his emotional breakthroughs progress the story. Istanbul, rendered in surreal dreamscapes and neon-lit alleys, becomes both the stage and the metaphorical mirror of Deniz’s inner self.

The game avoids traditional RPG tropes like combat or leveling. Instead, it leans into exploration, emotion-driven choices, and immersive point-and-click interaction. The intuitive mechanics serve the rich storytelling, making it ideal for those seeking meaningful narrative experiences without distractions.

“Pera Coda is both a love letter to our city and a universal tale of guilt, regret, and the pursuit of peace. It’s rooted in a surreal reimagining of Istanbul, built around real-world landmarks infused with emotional depth and local texture rarely found in games. Istanbul becomes a canvas where East meets West, chaos meets serenity, and every district reflects a fragment of your shattered identity,” said Art Director Ahmet Kazanci.

Pera Coda is currently in development for PC and unspecified consoles. A release date has not yet been announced.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
