According to data from Ampere Analysis, Build a Rocket Boy’s game—developed with ex-Grand Theft Auto producer Leslie Benzies—has failed to attract a large player base.
The Game Business cites Ampere Analysis data on player numbers for June’s most prominent game releases. According to Ampere, MindsEye has just under 250,000 players, with around 150,000 on PlayStation. On Steam, the only platform where MindsEye’s user-generated content tools are available, the count is a mere 35,000 players.
Currently, MindsEye is the worst-rated game of 2025 so far. Although Build a Rocket Boy is quickly releasing hotfixes, it remains unclear whether the studio’s debut title can be salvaged—especially given that the main source of future growth, the user-generated content platform, is only accessible to a small slice of its player base.
The Game Business also highlights FBC: Firebreak as another title struggling at launch, despite a total of 1.3 million players across all platforms (just under 800,000 on Xbox, 541,000 on PlayStation, and 54,000 on Steam). For a multiplayer-focused game, those numbers are admittedly disappointing. And because the game is available on Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus, many of those players do not represent direct sales.
Nonetheless, this marks Remedy’s first significant attempt at a multiplayer title, and the studio has committed to supporting Firebreak, celebrating the milestone of surpassing 1 million players.
Other titles mentioned by The Game Business—including Dune: Awakening, Rematch, Aggro Crab, and indie favorite Peak by Landfall—have been deemed commercial successes. Peak sold over 1 million copies during its first week. Ampere Analysis’ latest player numbers put Dune: Awakening at over 1.2 million players, and Peak at more than 2.2 million.
Ampere also reports that most of Rematch’s player base is on Xbox—1.58 million players—largely due to its inclusion in Game Pass. The game has slightly fewer than 800,000 players on PlayStation and over 1.1 million on PC. If Sloclap adds crossplay functionality, it will be interesting to see how far the game can grow from an already strong start.
