System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster Is Landing on Consoles Very Soon!

Nightdive Studios isn’t keeping console gamers waiting—System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster is about to launch across all major platforms, bringing the iconic sci-fi horror experience to a whole new audience.

Originally released in 1999, System Shock 2 is a groundbreaking fusion of sci-fi horror, action, and RPG elements. Its terrifying villain, the rogue AI Shodan, returns in the remastered edition, now more haunting than ever. Nightdive Studios has applied its restoration expertise to deliver what many consider one of the greatest first-person shooters in history. Rebuilt with the studio’s proprietary KEX Engine, the remaster offers enhanced visuals, refined gameplay, and optimized performance—including 4K resolution and up to 120 FPS—for modern hardware.

This is not just the best-looking version of the game to date—it’s also the most stable. Numerous bugs from the original PC version have been fixed, and the fan-favorite co-op multiplayer mode has been upgraded. Additionally, the remaster includes official support for community-created content. Every element of the game has been polished to provide the ultimate experience for both new players and long-time fans.

System Shock 2 redefined storytelling, atmosphere, and gameplay for an entire generation. It changed how gamers viewed narrative potential in first-person titles, earning numerous Game of the Year awards and over a dozen accolades. Set 42 years after the events of the original game, it follows a soldier awakening from cryosleep aboard the starship Von Braun, now overrun by Shodan and her horrific mutant creations. As players explore the eerie vessel, they’ll rely on cybernetic enhancements, upgradeable combat skills, powerful weapons, and psionic abilities to survive—and resist Shodan’s relentless, godlike ego.

System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster launched on PC on June 26 and will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on July 10.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
