Escape From Tarkov: A Single Developer Comment Sparks Outrage in the Entire Community

A real firestorm has broken out around Escape From Tarkov – after the recent wipe, fans are in uproar, and the developer responded with a shockingly “honest” message. Many say Nikita Buyanov, head of Battlestate Games, only threw fuel on the fire, defending himself by claiming “every opinion matters.” But does anyone believe it anymore?

The latest Escape From Tarkov wipe has unleashed a wave of complaints from the fanbase. The tactical shooter got a global reset on July 9, but the new features hit the community like an avalanche—prompting tons of criticism for Battlestate Games and shaking up the team. It all boiled over in an X spat, with the game director telling off a player who accused him of “ruining” the game. Though he later posted a friendlier reply, it only added fuel to the fire.

Starting from the top: a few days ago, the game got a new wipe the community did not love. Battlestate Games blocked traders, restricted map access, ramped up AI difficulty and boss spawn rates to 100%, hiked insurance costs, and made progression harder. The devs did respond to criticism and immediately started fixing bugs—like the disabled starter missions that sent players into raids with no objectives.

Players Vent on Social Media

Reddit is buzzing with complaints about insurance costs, map locks, and Escape From Tarkov’s frequent crashes. Fans have taken to social media to roast the new wipe, like Pieeet1’s post blaming Nikita Buyanov, Battlestate Games boss and Tarkov’s director, for wrecking the experience. The twist? Buyanov fired back on X: “oh, shut up.”

The community’s reaction was split. Some applauded Buyanov for clapping back at a troll; others thought the angry player was absolutely right. Most commenters were just bracing for a major online flame war. Buyanov tried to lighten up: “I’m just kidding, don’t shut up. All opinions matter.”

But that last response didn’t satisfy many. Besides posting tons of suggestions for Escape From Tarkov fixes, players reminded everyone that Battlestate Games doesn’t really listen to feedback. “That’s why you did surveys before and during the wipe, right? Oh wait…” wrote Sir Hans Vader sarcastically. “Nah, [all opinions] don’t count… This feels like an ‘everyone gets a prize’ situation,” added Airwingmarine. And AltF42Win wrote, “Your game lost its identity because you tried to please everyone. Listening to streamers has ruined this game.” All of this shows morale is low around Tarkov—whether the devs can turn things around remains to be seen.
