Serafini Productions’ first-person horror game is already available on PC but not yet on current-gen consoles.
BrokenLore: Low takes players on a journey filled with tension, mystery, and supernatural terrors, where every corner of the mist hides forgotten truths and unspeakable horrors. Set in the remote Japanese village of Kirisame Mura (Village of the Mist), the game explores the dark prelude to the story told in BrokenLore: Unfollow. Players are invited to uncover the roots of deep-seated hatred and navigate the circular, claustrophobic pathways of Kirisame Mura. Its loop-based design mirrors the relentless cycle of tragic events haunting the village.
Naomi Montgomery arrives in Kirisame Mura chasing a professional opportunity that seems to promise the start of her music career, but instead she confronts terrifying visions and the village’s cursed secrets. Her journey is both through time and memory, laying the foundation for the events of BrokenLore: Unfollow. The mystery deepens as a chilling legend surfaces: an ancient temple once stood at the heart of the village, the scene of a tragedy that left all its inhabitants cursed. Sinister forces appear to guard the town, and survival requires stealth rather than confrontation. By finding diaries and letters, players gain both historical and emotional context as they explore the village’s winding paths and uncover forgotten tales.
Kirisame Mura itself is designed as a labyrinth with no exit, representing the protagonist’s cycle of failed choices and shattered dreams. This theme is reinforced through a subtly shifting, repeating environment that pushes players to find a way to break the cycle. Themes of envy, ambition, and failure run throughout the experience.
BrokenLore: Low launched on PC on February 20 and will arrive on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles on September 15.
