The creators of “Kingdom Comes 2 with Zombies” are about to deliver their new dark fantasy RPG — and you’ll soon be able to play it on consoles. Lost Eidolons: Veil of the Witch is set to launch in October, also arriving on PlayStation 5 and Xbox.
Ocean Drive Studios may be best known for God Save Birmingham, a game that channeled the look and realism of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 but added zombies to its story and gameplay. But that wasn’t their only project. Another title they’ve been developing is the dark fantasy RPG Lost Eidolons: Veil of the Witch, a tactical game with turn-based combat and roguelite elements, and now we finally know its official release date.
And that’s not the only surprise: the game will be arriving on consoles this October as well, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, releasing on the same day as its PC version. And if you’re curious about how it plays on consoles, the studio has confirmed a demo will be available across all platforms so players can try it out before launch.
Turn-Based Strategy Meets Roguelite on Consoles
This new release was announced via a press statement alongside the official release date trailer. Originally launching on PC in Early Access on November 5, 2024, the developers and publisher Kakao Games now believe the game is ready for full release. Version 1.0 will roll out on October 9 across all platforms simultaneously.
Along with the announcement, the game is currently discounted on Steam for €16 — 20% off its full launch price. But beyond the deal, what’s most exciting is the confirmation that the game will be broadly available on today’s main consoles. While there won’t be a Switch 2 version, backward compatibility ensures it can still be played on Nintendo’s hybrid system, allowing this “sequel” to Lost Eidolons to reach a much wider audience.
An Adventure Where Every Death Restores Part of Your Memory
Lost Eidolons: Veil of the Witch tells the tale of a protagonist who awakens on a mysterious island with no memory. The Witch who rules these lands offers immortality if we pledge to serve as her champion — and thus begins a classic tactical RPG adventure. You’ll command a band of misfits across the island, unraveling the mystery that surrounds it. Death won’t be the end: every time you fall, you regain fragments of your memory and keep some of your upgrades and skills, true to roguelite tradition.
With nine character archetypes to choose from, 200 skills, and 30 relics to alter gameplay, the adventure promises plenty of depth to keep fans hooked. For those who want to dive deeper into the saga, the original Lost Eidolons is also worth checking out. Set in the same universe as Veil of the Witch, it features larger-scale gameplay while keeping the same turn-based tactical mechanics. It’s a perfect way to prepare for the sequel if you don’t want to spoil the fun with the Early Access version but also can’t wait until October 9.
