Just hours remain before players can try the new action-adventure, and skipping it would be a crime. The outstanding Indiana Jones and the Great Circle expands with The Order of the Giants DLC. “We knew our game was pretty good,” the devs say.
Although it launched at the tail end of 2024, it quickly became one of the year’s biggest titles, so the hype for The Order of the Giants — the first major DLC for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle — is real. We had a chance to test it at Gamescom 2025, and doing so alongside its developers made the experience even more fascinating. The team is visibly proud of what they’ve created.
“We’re confident we know what people like to play,” creative director Axel Torvenius and lead designer Zeke Virant told us. “Designers get to watch people play their levels for hundreds of hours, so we felt we had good instincts about what worked. Even before releasing Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, we already knew our game was pretty good.”
Interestingly, the development of The Order of the Giants started very early, in parallel with the main game. While it naturally shares DNA with The Great Circle, its puzzles and challenges are built on new mechanics to ensure it stands on its own as a fresh experience.
“For those who loved the base game, this is more of the same but with new elements. A brand-new adventure,” the MachineGames team, also known for their acclaimed Wolfenstein entries, told us.
An Expansion on the Scale of the Biggest
Gone are the days when expansions only offered a couple of extra hours… or almost. Unlike most modern DLCs, The Order of the Giants is aiming much higher. Developers estimate the new journey could last 5-6 hours, but completionists who explore every corner can expect much more.
Just hours before release on PC, Xbox Series, and PlayStation 5, we also asked MachineGames about the challenge of bringing Indiana Jones and the Great Circle to Nintendo Switch 2, where it will launch in 2026 with all content included. Without giving away too many details, they confirmed that “each platform comes with its own challenges,” but assured us the team is “working hard to deliver the best version possible.”
After delivering one of the best games of 2024, all that remains is to savor another epic Indiana Jones adventure — one so ambitious that it sometimes feels like a full-fledged sequel rather than an expansion. The game will be available on Game Pass from day one.
