The creators of Dying Light: The Beast aren’t wasting any time. Even though their open-world adventure has yet to launch, they’re already toying with ideas for their next project. Techland’s developers are brainstorming concepts for a future video game.

Techland is putting the final touches on Dying Light: The Beast. Following a lengthy delay intended to avoid repeating past mistakes, Kyle Crane’s new adventure will finally arrive on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series on September 19. That means we still have more than two weeks before we can return to one of the most iconic post-apocalyptic universes in gaming. Yet, the studio is already entertaining new ideas for its next big title.

This was confirmed by Nathan Lemaire, director of Dying Light: The Beast, in an interview with TheGamer during Gamescom 2025. With the zombie game just around the corner, he stressed: “Right now, we are super focused on making Dying Light: The Beast the best game that Techland has released in our more than 30 years of existence.”

Even so, the team has been letting their imaginations run wild, coming up with concepts that could pave the way for new experiences. While no new project has been officially announced, Lemaire explained: “You can never stop developers from coming up with ideas, right? We always have new ideas: What else can we do? Where can we go next? We talk about it all the time.”

That doesn’t mean Techland plans to jump into a brand-new game as soon as Dying Light: The Beast launches on September 19. In the weeks following release, the studio will need to dedicate significant resources to post-launch patches. It’s also worth remembering that both Dying Light and Dying Light 2: Stay Human received extensive DLC support; chances are, Techland could return to this model, expanding Kyle’s story with additional updates.

Techland Has Reportedly Canceled Two Games

It’s also worth noting that Techland might be going through some internal struggles. While focusing on Dying Light: The Beast, the studio has reportedly canceled two projects; one of them being the fantasy RPG announced back in 2016 in collaboration with former Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 developers.

Although Techland has not confirmed this information, what’s certain is that the studio doesn’t intend to abandon the post-apocalyptic world of Dying Light. During the franchise’s 10th anniversary, the company made it clear that The Beast wouldn’t be the end of the zombie saga. That means the ideas currently brewing could very well lead to another entry in the series.
