Project Morpheus got renamed to PlayStation VR, and we now know another new detail about this virtual reality headset. We thought that it will be connected directly up to the PS4. However, we are entirely wrong about this, because there’s a „middle man”…
There’s going to be a PU (Processing Unit) box – you have to plug the headset into this, and then plug the PU to the PS4. This will make sure that proper VR signals are sent to the PlayStation VR, while also converting it up to 120 Hertz. This will also function as the power supply for the PlayStation VR.
Also, it will make sure that our television will be used as well: it will send the signal to the TV too, showing the same thing as in the PlayStation VR, which has a 1920×1080 resolution. So if you have guests, they will not skip out on the fun either.
No idea on the PlayStation VR‘s concrete pricing yet, Sony only said it will have the price of a new gaming platform, so 350-400 dollars are likely for the virtual reality…
