If you’re a fan of strategy and role-playing, it’s impossible not to get hyped about Nintendo’s announcement of a brand-new Fire Emblem. Its trailer grabs you instantly – Fortune’s Weave revives one of Nintendo’s legendary sagas, with a release planned for 2026.
Nearly three years after the last entry, Nintendo has officially revealed a new Fire Emblem with a trailer that makes you wish the game was already in your hands. This turn-based RPG and strategy hybrid is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026 (no set date yet), under the title Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave. With its Roman-inspired setting, cinematic cutscenes, fluid combat animations, striking soundtrack, and intriguing story beats, expectations are sky-high.
Unveiled during the latest Nintendo Direct, few specifics have been confirmed so far, but the setting draws clear inspiration from Ancient Rome, complete with its own Colosseum. “The Heroic Games are about to begin!” proclaims one of the protagonists, teasing epic gladiatorial-style battles in vast arenas.
Much like the excellent Three Houses, this new adventure promises “intertwined plots,” though it remains to be seen how far player choices will alter the story. Between missions, players will be free to explore the city, as in recent Fire Emblem installments, though Nintendo has yet to clarify whether big changes are on the way.
What’s immediately obvious is the stunning character design crafted exclusively for the Switch 2. The trailer even ends with a major twist connecting this entry to Three Houses: the return of Sothis, now with a more mature appearance, asking, “Have you forgotten about me yet?” In the previous title, she acted as the inner voice that let you “rewind” certain actions. How she fits into this story is still a mystery.
For now, all eyes are on Nintendo and Intelligent Systems as fans eagerly await further details about what is shaping up to be one of 2026’s biggest RPG and strategy experiences.
