Arkheron: Fast-Paced PvP Tower Climb With a Diablo Meets PUBG Twist! [VIDEO]

Fifteen teams of three battle to reach the top of a mysterious tower… and this weekend PC players can try it out, with consoles also planned by Bonfire Studios.

Arkheron is a dark, surreal dimension built from the emotion-laden memories of the living world. Everyone here is bound to the Tower by a past they can barely recall, driving them to do anything to find answers and escape the consuming Abyss. In this fast-paced, dynamic PvP game, three-player teams fight to ascend a mysterious Tower composed of fragments of their previous lives. Here, items are the heroes—each one grants powerful abilities that determine how you fight, adapt, and overcome rival squads. Build your strategy and identity on the fly, looting and combining relics in real time to create a unique build every match. What you carry defines not just what you can do, but who you can become.

Climb the tower in Ascension mode, where teams face decisive duels. Battle monsters, challenge rival squads, and capture beacons floor by floor to rise before time runs out. After each successful Ascension, the number of teams shrinks, until one final 3v3 duel at the top crowns the victor before the tower resets and a new cycle begins.

Memories manifest in the tower as powerful weapons and abilities called relics. Each relic can transform your playstyle, letting you adjust your strategy mid-match. Collect a complete four-piece set to ascend into an Eternal form, unlocking a fifth, game-changing ability. Or, mix and match relics across sets to craft your own fractured build, unlocking set bonuses and unique synergies. The choice is always yours and can shift at any moment.

Arkheron’s free-aim isometric combat draws you into battle; rotate the camera to aim as you dodge and strike up close. The tight field of view makes combat strategic, intimate, and fast-paced. Immersive audio heightens the tension, letting you hear danger before you see it, turning subtle cues and music into keys to survival.

This new team-based game pits 15 squads against each other to conquer the mysterious tower. Teams must scavenge items, combine powerful abilities, and improvise unique builds on the spot to be the last ones standing. Every match starts barehanded, forcing players to scramble for relics with devastating powers from chests, monsters, quests, and fallen enemies.

After a few minutes, the Abyssal storm begins—a deadly force consuming everything in its path. Only beacon zones are safe, and there aren’t enough for everyone. Competing squads must fight to claim them, eliminating rivals along the way. Teams drop out floor by floor, until two squads face off at the very top in a final showdown.

Ascension Royale is the core mode, escalating each floor until the two strongest squads reach the top for a climactic 3v3. Training Mode offers a separate dungeon to test relics, explore synergies, and master the unique controls. Practice against dummies or duel other players in fights of up to six (1v1, 2v2, 3v3). Practice With Bots mirrors Ascension mode but replaces real players with AI opponents for onboarding.

Arkheron has no roles or classes. Each match, you build your character from scratch. Every build consists of four relics: a crown, an amulet, and two weapons. These relics grant powers only while held, and you can carry four at once. Many relics come in four-piece sets—two pieces grant a set bonus, and a full set unlocks Eternal form with a fifth ability. The tradeoff: once transformed, you can’t leave that form for the rest of the match. While Eternal form is thrilling, Arkheron’s heart lies in adapting your relics to your moment-to-moment playstyle and syncing with your squad. Thousands of combinations exist, rewarding repeated climbs.

Eternals are just one aspect of your potential. Story-wise, they are tower dwellers tied most deeply to the living world through memories they can’t or won’t let go. Arkheron’s story unfolds through these memories, growing more central over time.

An alpha test runs on Steam from September 19–21. Minimum specs: Intel Core i5-7600K, 6GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060, 16GB RAM, and 25GB SSD storage. Recommended: Intel Core i5-9600K and RTX 2070. The game will also come to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, though no release date is known.
