After the success of Silent Hill f, Konami doesn’t plan to play it safe with the franchise. Producer Motoi Okamoto insists every new entry will have its “own flavor,” but there’s one element that remains non-negotiable.
The Silent Hill franchise is in full expansion mode. The eerie fog has brought veteran fans back while welcoming a new wave of players to Konami’s survival horror saga. While Konami oversees publishing and coordination, the games are built by different studios – which means every project will feel unique, both in gameplay and storytelling.
With Silent Hill f now released, fans are asking what’s next. The Bloober Team is already deep into developing the Silent Hill 2 remake, though its release is still years away. Meanwhile, back in 2022, Silent Hill: Townfall was announced – a spin-off made up of episodic stories between main chapters. The project is being handled by No Code with distribution support from Annapurna.
At the Tokyo Game Show 2025, producer Motoi Okamoto told IGN Japan that future titles won’t just copy Silent Hill f’s formula, even though the game has already sold more than one million copies. Instead, each installment will carve out its own “flavor,” with Konami determined to keep experimenting with gameplay and narrative ideas.
The psychological core is untouchable
Okamoto made it clear: while mechanics and plots may differ drastically, the psychological backbone of Silent Hill is non-negotiable. He doubled down on X/Twitter, stressing that Konami aims to stay ambitious while making quality the cornerstone of the franchise.
“Not all future Silent Hill games will follow f’s gameplay, but we want the series to always be challenging in the best way, giving players a fresh experience with every title. Of course, some things will never change – the most important being the quality of the story. We believe psychological storytelling is essential to Silent Hill’s identity, and we’ll keep delivering that with confidence,” Okamoto explained.
