Bungie‘s next game doesn’t have an exact release date yet, but it’s in the works. The question is: How will it be received?
The closed technical test will run from October 22 at 10:00 a.m. PT/1:00 p.m. ET to October 28 at 10:00 a.m. PT/1:00 p.m. ET. Participation in previous tests does not guarantee participation in this or future tests. If you’ve been invited, you will receive an official email from Bungie. Invites for the Closed Technical Test will be sent in waves throughout the test. Even if you played in the Alpha or other NDA-protected playtest, you will still need to apply and be invited to participate in the Closed Technical Test.
This test is strictly under an NDA; as such, you will not be able to stream or share your playtest experience publicly. Any feedback or recordings must be shared only in the NDA-protected section of the official Marathon Discord server. Your invitation is specific to you, the Bungie.net account with which you signed up, and the Discord account that you provided during the sign-up process. You will not be able to share it. To access the NDA Discord server, join the official Discord server. The developers will add the Discord account name you provided during sign-up to the NDA section. It can take up to 24 hours for access to the NDA Discord channels to update.
Those joining after the test begins will receive role grants daily in the evening for the duration of the test. Steam users will need to complete the in-game survey to provide their Discord and Bungie.net account names.
To report a bug, you will need a Bungie.net account to access the Marathon Help Center Forums. Bungie will send out feedback surveys to your email. You can also provide feedback in the NDA section of Discord. It may take up to 24 hours for access to the forums and Discord to update. North America and Europe will be allowed to participate in the Closed Technical Test. You will need at least an Xbox Series S or a PlayStation 5 console and, for PC, an Intel Core i5-6600 CPU, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti GPU, and 8 GB of RAM.
“This is an important checkpoint for us as we test our improvements since the Alpha phase, including three new maps, five new runner shells, a new prox chat feature, re-tuned combat pacing, a new solo queue feature, and deeper environmental storytelling. That said, the Technical Test build is a work in progress and will only include a portion of what’s planned for Marathon’s full release. It is focused on the early player experience,” said Bungie.
The Marathon reboot will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC at some point. If Sony messes this up, too, the company won’t have much of a chance in the live service region, and Bungie could suffer as well. You can sign up for the test here until 1 a.m. CEST on October 17! If you play on PC, you can also do so on Steam.
