Although Atooi’s game was originally released years ago, it continued to receive new ports as recently as last year — and now another one is on the way! The classic DS horror game returns: step once more into the eerie corridors of Dementium: The Ward, the cult survival horror that redefined handheld terror, now remastered for PC. You wake up alone in an abandoned hospital, with no memory of how you got there. Confront grotesque creatures, uncover a haunting mystery, and fight to survive with only improvised weapons and your own wits. Every flicker of light, every echo in the hallway, and every drop of blood tells a story you’ll never forget.
Originally a groundbreaking horror experience on the Nintendo DS, Dementium: The Ward has been reborn for a new generation with upgraded visuals, smoother controls, and the same relentless atmosphere that made it legendary. Blending survival challenge and psychological nightmare, it’s a descent into darkness no fan of Silent Hill or Amnesia should miss. Can you escape the ward… or will it consume you?
Classic DS horror reborn.

It’s no coincidence the Nintendo DS is mentioned. Nintendo’s highly successful handheld console (which even surpassed Sony’s PlayStation Portable!) received Dementium: The Ward on October 31, 2007. The first port wasn’t a major upgrade — its successor, the Nintendo 3DS, got it on December 3, 2015. The second port, however, was far more significant, with the Nintendo Switch — a much more powerful system than the DS — receiving it on October 12, 2023. The PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 also got the horror FPS on April 19, 2024.
Now it’s PC’s turn. Atooi will bring Dementium: The Ward to Steam, though the developers have not yet announced a release date.
