FryAnvil and Nordcurrent Labs took their time — the game finally arrives on consoles nearly three and a half years after its original PC release.
Decision: Red Daze is an isometric action RPG that uniquely blends survival gameplay with tower defense elements. The Dust Bowl, once a “thriving” society of corrupt politicians, wealthy landowners, and everyday citizens who worked for them “100% willingly,” has been devastated by a mysterious phenomenon survivors call the Red Daze. As the infection spreads, turning people into deranged and dangerous mutants, the world’s governments are in chaos. The few survivors left must fight back against the monsters in hopes of finding a way to eradicate the Red Daze once and for all.
Even the weakest survivor can lead a squad, explore the wasteland, and forge their own destiny. How you develop and specialize the survivors you find is entirely up to you. While most Dust Bowl buildings are long abandoned and crawling with the undead, the loot and shelter they offer are irresistible to survivors. On your expeditions, you’ll discover farmsteads, factories, and military outposts filled with enemies and valuable supplies. Most importantly, you’ll find the foundations to rebuild those long-forgotten structures into fortified, thriving settlements.
As survivors from across the wasteland flood your settlements seeking safety, it’s wise to put them to work. Assign them to construct factories producing food, materials, and trade goods; strengthen your defenses; and when under attack, entrust your best soldiers to guard the settlement — or join the fight yourself to defend what’s yours. Each pack of monsters has a leader, so plan ahead, build your team strategically, and embark on scouting and combat missions to gather intel on enemy movements. Destroy the leaders to put an end to the assaults entirely.
Decision: Red Daze was originally released on May 19, 2022, for PC and is now available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles for $20.
