NetEase’s hugely successful team-based shooter game, Marvel Rivals, is getting a PvE mode. However, it won’t be a permanent feature, so don’t miss out!
On October 23, the popular free-to-play, 6v6, third-person online shooter will get its first PvE mode. Inspired by Marvel Zombies, the four-part animated miniseries for adults that premiered on Disney+ on September 24, the mode will be available for a limited time. The announcement was accompanied by a short video in which Danny Koo, an executive producer at Marvel Games, explained a few details.
“In this Marvel Zombies-inspired mode, you get to play as Thor, Blade, Magik, Jeff the Land Shark, and The Punisher, taking on endless waves of zombies. You’ll have to survive the horde, face zombie Namor and the Queen of the Dead as bosses, and fight to save the world from being completely zombified. We have also given each hero unique abilities: Charge through the hordes as Jeff; slice and dice with Blade’s bouncing moon blades; or shock zombies as Thor in his persistent awakened state. Or go berserk as Magik in her unlimited Darkchild form. Showcase your epic combat skills against zombie swarms and tough bosses,” said Koo.
Further details are not yet known, such as when this limited-time event will end. Marvel Rivals is currently in its fourth and a half season, titled Heart of the Dragon. It launched last week and includes the long-awaited cross-progression feature, meaning you can transfer your progress between platforms at any time. Additionally, Daredevil was introduced as the 43rd playable character. In the game, Daredevil is an agile, combo-oriented Duelist, a character archetype that deals high damage. The character also has a teamwork ability with The Punisher.
Marvel Rivals is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, and since September 12, PlayStation 4.
