The Action RPG From Asia That Drops Jaws – Project TAL’s First Gameplay Already Stuns [VIDEO]

Asia does it again: this might be the slickest-looking dark fantasy action RPG right now. Project TAL has unveiled its first gameplay trailer, with release planned for 2027 on PC and as-yet-unnamed consoles.

This week, South Korean developer MADNGINE and publisher Wemade Max rolled out a new trailer for the action RPG once known as TAL: The Arcane Lands, now rebranded as Project TAL. The video mixes pre-rendered scenes with in-engine footage, and the accompanying info drops broad details plus a tentative launch window.

The YouTube blurb pitches Project TAL as “a single-player, open-world action RPG offering deep immersion, strategic combat, and a rich narrative. On your journey, you’ll fight alongside distinctive allies — each with unique abilities, personalities, and fighting styles — who grow with you and influence how the story unfolds.”

Key Features:

  • Climb onto monsters to unleash brutal offensives.
  • Pin specific body parts to debilitate and condition enemies.
  • Trigger dynamic counters and coordinated ally attacks.
  • Allied NPCs react in real time to your actions.

Judging by the trailer, the formula channels Monster Hunter, Dragon’s Dogma, and Black Myth: Wukong: meaty boss encounters, capable CPU companions, and exploration flavored by South Korean folklore.

Development and Release

It’s still early days: the team is targeting 2027 on PC and unspecified consoles. Development runs on Unreal Engine 5. For now there’s no official site or Steam page; you can at least follow the project’s YouTube channel.
