David Lynch’s legacy bears fruit in games too — Wych Elm’s upcoming project is a great example.
Silver Pines is a Twin Peaks–inspired 2D survival-horror metroidvania (how often do we see that?) developed by Wych Elm and published by Team17, targeting a 2026 multi-platform release. The story follows detective Red Walker, hired to find Eddie Velvet, a musician who has mysteriously vanished. As you might expect, the search draws Walker into a deepening conspiracy and darker secrets behind Velvet’s disappearance.
With its distinctive art direction and survival-horror gameplay, this looks like a striking debut from a new indie team. First revealed during the Galaxies Showcase, Silver Pines immediately turned heads: you’ll battle shadowy threats while solving puzzles to uncover why Velvet disappeared — all as Walker wrestles with demons from his own past that may lead to redemption. The mood and narrative potential are palpable, and it’ll be especially interesting to see how metroidvania-style, exploration-forward design dovetails with the story it wants to tell.
Here’s hoping we hear more soon — perhaps we’ll be exploring Silver Pines by Halloween 2026. It’s always a good sign when a new indie studio arrives with such a confident trailer, hinting at one of next year’s sleeper hits. If you need horror sooner, keep an eye on Beneath, a Lovecraftian shooter landing on October 27.
Silver Pines is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, and Nintendo Switch. No firm date yet — Team17 says it’s slated for 2026 — but it’s already on plenty of wishlists.
