The Florist: Retro-Style Plant Horror [VIDEO]

No, seriously — Unclear Games from New Zealand is crafting a survival horror game entirely rooted in plants. With fixed camera angles and lush, unsettling environments, The Florist blends the eerie charm of classic Resident Evil and Silent Hill titles with a blooming botanical nightmare.

The story follows Jessica Park, a courier who arrives in the lakeside town of Joycliffe to make a last-minute delivery. Her unfortunate timing unleashes chaos as the town transforms into a deadly survival game overrun by flowers. Players must solve clever puzzles, face terrifying plant-based monsters, and uncover a sinister plan designed to create new life in the most inhumane way imaginable.

Exploring Joycliffe and its outskirts reveals a network of dark secrets. Observation and intuition are key to navigating the town, as players collect hidden objects and cryptic clues. An in-game journal logs all discoveries, from narrative fragments to floral specimen data. As the game progresses, players unlock various weapons to fight against evolving creatures and monstrous bosses. The world itself transforms—when day turns to night, the flowers spawn new, deadlier enemies with ever-changing abilities.

The Florist distinguishes itself through vivid color and beauty used to amplify tension. Joycliffe isn’t a decaying ghost town; it’s a vibrant, dangerous place where light and color are woven into both gameplay and art direction. Each handcrafted environment features a fixed camera perspective, balancing elegance with unease and offering a nostalgic yet modernized experience.

Other highlights include multiple difficulty and accessibility settings, unlimited inventory space, autosave checkpoints, and numerous bonus secrets typical of the genre. Inspired by survival horror’s golden age yet enhanced with modern twists, Unclear Games aims to set a new standard when The Florist launches in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Retro fans will instantly recognize the throwback camera work reminiscent of early Resident Evil and Silent Hill classics.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
