Square Enix is making changes to Dragon Quest VII, which was originally released on the PlayStation 1 and later made its way to the Nintendo 3DS in 2016 as a remake.
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined offers something new for returning players who have already played the JRPG on the aforementioned platforms, as it features a new ending not seen in any other version. This new ending may encourage fans to buy this part of the franchise again or at least pique their interest.
“Dragon Quest VII Reimagined follows the narrative of the original story. Depending on the player’s choices, they will see a new conclusion that has never been seen before in previous versions. So even players who have played previous versions of Dragon Quest VII will still have a fresh narrative experience with Dragon Quest VII Reimagined,” game producer Takeshi Ichikawa told Game Informer during the publication’s recent visit to Square Enix’s offices in Shibuya, Tokyo.
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined follows the original story and adds a new ending. However, the new version of the seventh installment of the series includes significant gameplay changes that greatly improve the gaming experience. These include a revamped battle system with more dynamic enemy encounters and advanced party members and enemy moves and behaviors; the ability to skip battles with weak opponents by attacking them in the field; and a redesigned user interface with a tab-based menu system for easier navigation.
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined will be released on February 5 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, PC, and Nintendo Switch for $60. The Digital Deluxe version will cost $75. Square Enix recently released Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake, which came out last week on the same platforms that will receive Dragon Quest VII Reimagined. And let’s not forget about Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake.
